Warhammer & Pigs

This afternoon we went to the Games Workshop Store here in Groningen to meet up with other gamers and to work on painting some of my owner's Eldar miniatures. We started with trimming off some excess metal bits. We didn't get to paint today, but we hope to start with painting on the next meeting.

I looked at some of the miniatures of one of the other gamers to see how we might paint our Eldar. I liked the purple ones the most and I think my owner did too.

We also bought a present for someone today.
It was packaged in purple and green and it had a small pig on it for decoration!

Because I loved the piggy so much I got these two extra piggies just for me, so I didn't have to vandalise the present ;-)

Bread, a Rabbit and a Book

We went into town today for lunch and I got a delicious bread with onions.

And my owner's OtherHalf got me a present: a rabbity friend.

After lunch we went bookshopping and I found a book with a hippo on it!

I had a fun afternoon.

Is It Summer Yet?

Still nothing much happening over here, but I'm reading up on Berlin because my owner told me we'll be going there this summer if all goes well.

Book Spam

Still nothing much happening over here, but I did get some books in my mail today. Angels' Flight is a book with four short stories about angels (Urban Fantasy angels, not real angels) and Distant Waves is a novel that features the Titanic, so I'm reading that one for my Titanic event on my other blog next month.

Reading up on the Titanic

Apart from playing Mass Effect 3 (a lot) I'm reading up on the Titanic. I'm planning 15 days of posts about the Titanic and such over on my review blog in April. The Titanic is a subject that's both fascinating and sad to study.

Stalking the Others in My Mail

Yes, I've been boring these last few days.
I'm totally addicted to Mass Effect 3.
It's amazing and I just can't stop playing it.

But there was awesome mail today that just might be able to tear me away from my game:

Jess Haines send me an Advanced Reader Copy of her next book 'Stalking the Others' and some signed cover flats as well!
Jess' books are really beautiful and cool: they got vampires, werewolves and other supernatural creatures and an amazing heroine who has to deal with all those creatures.

Thanks Jess!

Mass Effect and Carpathia

Mass Effect 3 arrived yesterday!
So I think you can guess what I did for the rest of the day.

I also got this book in the mail.
It's a horror story set on the Carpthia, the ship that rescued the surviving passengers of the Titanic. I'm very curious about this book and hope to read it before April when I'll be having a special Titanic event on my review blog.

Getting Ready For Mass Effect 3

Yes, I've been awfully quiet these last few days, but my owner wasn't doing anything interesting so I've been playing Mass Effect 2 so I'm all ready to play Mass Effect 3 when it releases over here in a couple of days.

Yet Another Book in my Mail

Today I received another book from aLmYbNeNr.
I won this one in a giveaway she held over on her blog. It sounds like an intriguing read and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Thanks aLmYbNeNr!

A Meeting with Hammie

Yesterday Hammie was in Groningen!
We met up for lunch and he brought me presents from Schiermonnikoog: M&M's in the colors of the flag of Schiermonnikoog and a new piggy friend.

And look:
Hammie made a hat for me!
G. had promised to make me a hat last year, but she still hadn't found the time, so Hammie decided to give crocheting a try and this is the result.

Isn't it beautiful!?

After I got all these great presents we had lunch and after lunch a nice cup of tea.

Then we made a walk around the center of Groningen.

And finally we went to see the Muppets Movie.

Thank you Hammie for all those wonderful presents and for such a great afternoon!

A Trip to Utrecht

Yesterday we went on a trip to Utrecht.
First we had to take a bus and a train ride. Luckily I brought my new Zombie book along.

Here I am at the Dom tower in Utrecht.
The Dom tower is the most famous building in Utrecht. It used to be part of a church, but during a big storm a large part of the church collapsed and from then on the tower wasn't connected to the church anymore.

On the Dom square I saw this statue of a count.

I also spotted a doorway to a small courtyard.

It had a carving of Saint Maarten on it.

And here I am in the courtyard.
This is the cloister garden of the Dom Church.

In the middle of the garden there was a small fountain.

It had gargoyles on it!

At the far side of the garden you could see the Dom tower.

After our visit to the cloister garden we did some shopping and then stopped for a nice hot drink before exploring Utrech some more.

I saw a chameleon and a frog.

And at another church I spotted a pineapple statue.

Utrecht is a very cool city I think.
It has many beautiful canals.

When dusk set in we decided to find a restaurant to get something to eat.

We had a table at the window with a view on the entrance of the restaurant.

Here I am relaxing with a nice glass of beer after a long, but fun day of shopping and sightseeing.

When we left the restaurant there were colored lights under the bridges over the canals. Very beautiful! A perfect ending to a great day out.
