My Trip to Normandy - Day 8, part 1 - Mont Saint-Michel

On June 7 we went for a trip to Mont Saint-Michel.

Mont Saint-Michel is a small rocky island on the coast. There's a large monastery on the island. We had to take a bus to get close to the island and then walked the rest of the way.

I spotted a seagull along the way.

Doesn't it look beautiful?

When we reached the island we decided to walk around it first to have a good look at it.

It was low tide, so we could easily walk around the island, but when it's high tide the island is surrounded by water.

My Trip to Normandy - Day 7 - Walking in Sunshine

June 6th it was D-Day. President Obama was visiting the American Cemetery close to the house so it was very busy everywhere. We decided to go for a walk along the rural road again to be able to visit the beach. We explored the corn fields, had a great time on the beach, had refreshing drinks and saw a bunny. In the evening we went out for dinner and afterwards took another walk on the beach.

My trip to Normandy - Day 6, part 2 - Games and Fireworks

After our walk we relaxed a bit and sat in the sun, looking at all the jeeps riding around.

I slowed the speed of the video, so you can see the jeeps better.

Then we got out the booze!

Time for games: we played Yahtzee.

I even got a Yahtzee of sixes!
It was fun.

When it was dark we walked to Omaha Beach, because there was a fireworks show. They had fireworks all along the coast!

It was very beautiful and impressive!

Mail Interlude

Before continuing my tales about my trip to Normandy, here's some of the awesome mail I received lately.

Laura and Sparky sent me a new friend!

Beanie sent me a cool key ring with a trolley token.

I received a package full of books from Jeffe.
She managed to snag me some signed books, and even some ARCs at RT2014. She also sent some swag and a signed copy of her own book The Mark of The Tala.

I got three books from R. Jackson-Lawrence. I won these at the Armchair BEA event.

Jess Haines sent me an ARC of Enslaved by the Others.
She also included a cover-flat and a key ring.

The key ring had a small pair of cuffs on it. How cool!

Thanks everyone!
