Gilbert - The Orchid Farm (part 3)

The butterfly habitat was really fun!

There were fish here as well.

That's not a real flower, silly butterfly!

Next we saw meerkats and tortoises!

The meerkats used the tortoises for relaxing and scouting the area.

More fish.

Outside they had flamingos!

I love flamingos.

There were also storks among the flamingos.

They also had lemurs. The lemurs had their own island.

They seemed to have a great time on their island,

After seeing everything we visited the gift shop and then went home again. It was a lovely day!

I saved our tickets as a souvenir and I got a special Lorikeet coin as well. I wouldn't mind another visit one day.

Gilbert - The Orchid Farm (part 2)

We continued our walk through the green houses and saw many beautiful flowers.

Hmmm... Left or right?

I picked right and wasn't disappointed.
I found more turtles.

And I spotted these weird heads.

This turtle seemed to be napping.

Although...

The turtles seemed to love it here and didn't seem to be bothered by people admiring them.

A statue of a hunter.

For the next part of our visit I dove into my owner's bag and kept myself hidden, because:

My owner got to feed the Lorikeets!
They are very pushy and greedy, so I was too afraid they'd try to eat me if I didn't stay safe in my owner's bag.

My owner says it's lots of fun to feed the Lorikeets, and she even had one landing on her head. It sounded a bit scary to me.

She alos saw a Lorikeet taking a bath.

Once again outside of the Lorikeet enclosure I came out of hiding.

And spotted this mini pineapple thingy plant. Not sure if it's really a pineapple or something that looks like a pineapple.

Next we took a short rest and had rhubarb cake and something to drink.

After our break we went to the butterfly habitat.

There were lots of blue butterflies flying around, but those were impossible to get a picture of. Luckily these butterflies were more approachable.

Aren't they pretty?

next: more butterflies & flamingos

Gilbert - The Orchid Farm (part1)

We visited the Orchid Farm this Sunday!
I had been there before a few years ago, and it was so much fun we decided to visit it again.

There are greenhouses with exotic plants, and lots of orchids of course.

I spotted a family of ducks.

And there were turtles!
This one was chilling right next to a bridge.

There were fish in the water as well. But it was difficult to get a good picture

Nor sure what kind of plant this is.

\
There were new plant thingies growing in the watery heart of this flower.

I loved walking around and admiring all the flowers and plants.

I found a chair and took a short rest.

Who wouldn't like to take a rest and enjoy a view like this?

Spot the monkey!

Another attempt at fishtography.

There was a cave!

And more beautiful flowers.

Coming next: flowers, birds, and butterflies
