High Tea, Books, and Other Awesome Things

Today Aurian and Freya paid me and my owner a visit for our birthday!

They brought lots of books and goodies, but more about that later.

We spent a couple of hours chatting, before we went to 't Feithhuis, a restaurant in the center of Groningen.
('t Feithhuis means the Feith House. Feith being the name of a family that used to own the building the restaurant is in.)

We were going to be served a High Tea.
I got Mango tea.

And we got all these yummy snacks!

Especially the scones, muffin and quiches looked very tasty!

We had a great time tasting all those delicious snacks, and we talked some more about books, and other fun things. It was a really great afternoon.

Here's a picture of the front of the restaurant

It's right across the street from the Martini church and Martini tower.

At the end of the afternoon Aurian and Freya had to travel back to Utrecht.

I got busy with drooling over all the books and goodies:

Look at all the books I added to my collection!

We also got cider and rum from Aurian and Freya.
Yum, yum.

Aurian got us magnets, and signed bookplates and postcards from the Katherine "Kitty" Katt series by Gini Koch. It's one of our favorite series, so we're very happy with this cool present.

And last, but certainly not least:

We got a picture that Suzanne Johnson made especially for me and my owner! She sent it to Aurian, so Aurian could surprise me.
You can't see it in this picture, but on the hat it says: Sullivan McPig Rocks. Isn't that cool?! I'm very happy with it!

So all in all we had an awesome day and got lots of cool books and presents!

Thanks Aurian, Freya and Suzanne!

A Sunny Day in Utrecht

Last Sunday I went on a trip.
My owner and I went to Utrecht to visit Aurian and Maia.

We had a quick look at the Book Festival to see if maybe they had some new books since August, then we went into the city to enjoy the weather.

First we had lunch.
I had a tasty sandwich with cheese and apple syrup.

And a Martini Something Sorbet for dessert.

After lunch we had a walk in the park next to the restaurant where we had our lunch.

There was a cool fountain.

And a statue of queen Wilhelmina, a former queen of the Netherlands.

Next we visited the Rosarium, a park with all kinds of roses.
No dogs allowed, luckily I'm a pig.

Isn't this pretty?!

I stopped to smell the roses of course!

I'm a Super Star!

Outside of the Rosarium we spotted wild strawberries!

After a lovely sunny afternoon outside we spend some time talking and playing games at Maia's home. After dinner my owner and I went back to Groningen.

Here are the books I found at the Book Festival. I got one of them for free!

All in all we had a great day.
Thanks Maia and Aurian!

Mail, a Trip and Books

I'm still alive!
I've been busy reading, and helping my owner to run away from zombies with the Zombies, Run app.

I received some cool mail of which I will show you:

The cool crab card Beanie sent me.

And the piggy card Hammie sent.

And I took a trip yesterday:

I traveled to Utrecht to meet up with Aurian and Maia.
When I arrived Maia showed me a beautiful piece of Utrecht.

Isn't this a lovely view?!

Next we went to IJsselstein to visit the head office of the people who arrange Boekenfestijn, a regular book fair with lots of cheap books.

They had this cool scales at the entrance.

And they had books of course!
We browsed the books they had on sale and after that we went back to Utrecht and I got to hang out some more with Aurian and Maia. We had lots of fun, but in the evening I had to return home.

Here's the stack of books I bought at the Boekenfestijn head office. I even found a cool zombie book, that I might tell you more about soon.

A Picnic, More Food and Lots of Books

Last week it was lovely weather so we went on another picnic.

The insects also thought the weather was nice.
Can you see them?

We had a cool campfire as well.

I hope we get more sunny days so we can go on a picnic again soon.

---

Yesterday we got a visit from Aurian and Maia!

They came bearing gifts, and we had a great afternoon talking about books, the convention in Berlin they visited, and more. In the evening we went out for dinner.

We went to my favorite restaurant: Ni Hao.

We had lots of yummy food, including my favorite sweet and sour soup.

After dinner they started on their journey back home, and it was time for me to drool over the goodies they brought.

Just look at all the books and swag.
And I also got a cool purple bag from the Berlin convention!

They also met up with Patricia Briggs, and not only did they get her to sign my copy of Fair Game, they also got a magnet and a cool badge for me!

And in Berlin they had Nalini Singh sign two books for me as well!

There were lots of other cool books as well, including Zombies vs Unicorns, and a book about a pig. Keep an eye on my review blog, because I will certainly review those books there.

Thanks, Aurian and Maia for all the goodies and for a really fun day!

Festival of Books and Food

Yesterday we went on a trip.
Aurian and Maia had told us about 'Boekenfestijn'(Book Festival), a giant book fair with lots of cheap books. So my owner and I decided to have a look at the Boekenfestijn in Utrecht together with Aurian and Maia.

It was a grey and wet day, but luckily the book fair would be indoors.

Wow! So many books!

It was amazing!
I didn't really know what to expect from this book fair, but not that there would be so many cool books as there turned out to be. I might have gone in a small book buying frenzy. I will most certainly visit another Boekenfestijn in the future.

After the book fair we went to Maia's place and we hung out and talked books and other fun things. I checked out Maia's impressive collection of books of course.

What a gorgeous collection.

I also got some books from Aurian and Maia, and some books Blodeuedd had sent to Aurian that were meant for me. We had quite some books to take home. We also gave some books to Aurian, that she'll take with her when she goes to Germany, to get them signed for us.

Then it was time for dinner!
We went to a Japanese restaurant where you could try all kinds of small snacks.

I ordered a Pina Colada!
It was really good, but heavy on the ice.

We tried all kinds of snacks, but my favorite were the mushrooms and pumpkin. My owner tried some snacks that shall not be named, I didn't take pictures of those snacks of course.

And then it was already time to catch a train home. The day had flown by.

Luckily for a Sunday evening it wasn't too crowded on the train and we had a place to sit and to stow all our books.

It was a really fun day.
Thanks Aurian and Maia for introducing me to Boekenfestijn!
