Gilbert - More Fun and Food

Last Friday we went on a bike ride to Garnwerd

We visited restaurant Hammingh.
It was a beautiful day, so the bridge guard was kept busy with openning the bridge for boats

I got french fries!

It was a lovely afternoon.

On out way home we stopped at the grocery store, and I spotted these cool beer cans.

Yesterday we went out for dinner again.
I got to try nachos. They were really yummy.

My owner got a beef stew, but I didn't try it, as Sullivan taught me to not trust our owner's food when it had meat in it.

Gilbert - A Trip and Drinks

Yesterday we went on a trip to Noordpolderzijl.

I got a great spot to take in the views.

I also tried the side mirror, to see what was behind us

I could see myself!

We took a roundabout way through the province so we could enjoy the scenery.

I just love all those open fields, and the sky was beautiful.

We also took some really small country roads. That was really cool and adventurous in my opinion.

Almost there!

Even though Noordpolderzijl is on the coast, we didn't get to the sea as there are lots of fields between the dyke and the sea, and some of those fields are very muddy. I don't like getting muddy. These cows didn't mind too much.

I made a selfie of me, our owner and her OtherHalf!

After a walk we got a drink at the small cafe at Noordpolderzijl.

I also got to taste a beer.

And we got a plate of yummy snacks!

After the drinks and snacks we drove home, we took the quick not so scenic route back, so I didn't take anymore pictures on the way home.

In the evening we went out for dinner with friends who were visiting Groningen. It was at THe Five Tastes, so Sullivan came along, because he knew they had really tasty Wasabi Martini's there!

After the Wasabi Martini we decided to try the Sake-tini.
That one was really yummy as well.

There was a lychee in the Sake-tini!

After dinner we took a walk across the Fish Market.

And had a last drink at a cafe before saying goodbye to our friends and going home.

It was a really cool day.

Gilbert: Drinks, Food, and Books

We went into town yesterday to visit the bookstore. After we got books we wanted something to eat and drink so we went to one of our favorite cafes. Everyone was sitting outside, so we had a whole floor to ourselves.

I got a very yummy blackberry cider.

And I got to try a dark beer as well.

We had sweet potato fries and a goat cheese pizza to go with our drinks.

They were really tasty, especially the fries.

Here are the books we got. One is for Sullivan and the other one for me.

It was a fun afternoon.

Gilbert: An Outdoor Dinner

Earlier this month we were invited for a birthday dinner. Because of the current situation the dinner was outside so we could keep at a safe distance from other people.

I got to try Groninger mustard soup! It was very yummy!

We also had bread and flavored butter with the soup.

The main course was a burger and fries!
The burger was called El Mariachi, but Sullivan warned me in advance I should never trust a burger my owner orders, so I played it safe and assumed it wasn't made from a guitar player and stuck to the fries.

These were delicious, btw!

For dessert I had ice cream with raspberry sauce!

We took a small peek inside the restaurant after dinner, and they had a cool piggy painting!

I also spotted this sign on a drain. It says: "Here the sea begins". I looked around, but didn't spot the sea though.

Gilbert: Elder Flowers

At the start of June we gathered a lot of elder flower blossoms.

We put the blossoms in water and let it stand for a day.

The next day we made tons of elder flower syrup!
It turned out very yummy and I've been drinking a lot of elder flower lemonade since.

Gilbert - Catching Up

Now that I finally finished my posts about our trip to Germany, I think it's time to catch you up on everything we did the last couple of months.

At the start of February we had a friend over for dinner, and we had a delicious oven dish with potatoes, vegetables, and cheese.

After dinner we had a drink.
It was a fun evening.

We also went to a games night in February and played Shadows over Camelot.
A cooperative game, but there can be a traitor!

The Picts and/or Saxons attack!

In March the whole stay at home thing started and we got a lovely care package from a friend.

At the start of April we received a beautiful and sweet card from Hammie!

We baked a bread! It was really yummy!

Sullivan and I played games together.

On the first day of May we tried to bake a Bundt cake, but the cake didn't come out of the tin in one piece...

We put the broken piece back on the cake, and the cake still tasted very delicious, but it wasn't how it was supposed to be.

So a few days later we baked another cake!
This one did come out in one piece

Photo-bombing Mister Blue.

This cake was even more yummy than the first!

And we did not just get cake that day, but pancakes as well!

On May 14 we ordered a game online from the store of our owner's best friends. When it arrived the next day there was an extra game! Thanks K&E!

On the 16th we had to visit IKEA. Luckily IKEA has great rules in place to make shopping safe. After our shopping I got to try chicken meatballs with mustard.

I also got to try a bit from this yummy veggie hotdog.

On Ascension Day it was lovely weather, so we went for a long walk.
This place was supposedly the inspiration for some painter's painting.

I don't know if that's true, but it was beautiful there.

We had a rest and a snack next to a bridge with a lock.

It was a beautiful day for a walk and we had lots of fun.

And today I found a bottle of special Coca Cola. It has lime, ginger, rosemary, jasmine, and jalapeno in it! We haven't tasted it yet, but it sounds strange and exciting.

That's all for now. I'll try to keep you more regularly updated from now on.

Stay safe and healthy everyone!
