Queensday 2012

Yesterday it was Queensday, the day our queen celebrates her birthday.

We went to the traditional 'Freemarket', a large open air flea market where there's lots of stuff for sale.
It's called a 'Freemarket' because you don't have to pay a fee to have a stall there.)

I found a new friend at the market!

And we had a really tasty snack: bread with goat cheese, walnuts and honey.

In the evening we went to the movies.
We saw The Hunger Games. I read the book and liked it, so was very curious about the movie. It turned out to be a fun and cool movie.

Lots of Books

My owner's OtherHalf had to travel to Amsterdam for an expo and because we couldn't come with him he bought us a bookish present. Shiver is about werewolves and I've heard many good things about it, so I'm looking forward to reading it.

Today a huge package was delivered.
I tried to see who it was from, but I couldn't figure it out. Time to open it.

There was a bag inside that was from the RT Booklovers Convention. Hmmm... I was starting to suspect who the sender of this package could be.

Look at all the goodies that were inside the bag!
Lots of books, trading cards and other fun stuff!

And the little piggy confirmed my suspicions!
This amazing package was send to me by my friends Laura and Sparky. They collected all these goodies for me at the convention.

Laura and Sparky:
Thanks! You are awesome. *hugs*

Spam, Spam, Beautiful Bookish Spam

Today there were two books in our mail!

I received Hell Fire from Stella.
I was having trouble getting hold of this book myself, but Stella not only found it, she ordered it for me as well.

Thank you Stella!

The other book in our mail was for Voodoo Bride.
Gini send her a translated and signed copy of 'Spirit of the Mist' by Janeen O'Kerry. What a cool surprise.

Thank you Gini and Janeen!

Wild Times at Casa McPig

Yeah.....
Not so much!

I'm pretty bored actually.
If it wasn't for the grocery goodies and me winning books all the time I wouldn't even have anything to show you.

My owner did book a city trip though, but it will be a few months before we get to go.
Until then I keep bugging her to do something fun.

Grocery Fun and Awesome Mail

Things have been quiet around here these last few days, but I did get more fun grocery goodies at the grocery store.

And today there was awesome mail:

We won these books over at Smexy Books.
Two of them seem like perfect reads for Voodoo Bride, while the other two will be perfect for me.

And look at the awesome artwork I received!
My owner won this trading card artwork (which is made especially for us!)in a giveaway Allison Pang held over at Jeffe's blog. We got to pick a scene from one of Allison's books and Aimo made it for us.

It's a scene from A Brush of Darkness and it's the first time Brystion and Abby meet. Isn't it beautiful!?

Thanks everyone for all this awesomeness!

Beanie Mail

I got mail from Beanie yesterday.
He discovered that my grandfather posed for Picasso and send me a card of the sketch my grandfather posed for.
Can you spot my grandfather?

Thanks Beanie!
