Gilbert - Dinosaurs & Other Stuff

At the Triceratops exhibit there was also this replica skull with a sort of magnifier.

If you turned the magnifier the shadow behind the skull changed!

It showed how the skull of a Triceratops changed when growing up into an adult Triceratops.

Baby Triceratopses hatching.

One last glance at the herd.

Next we visited a room that was set up like a cabinet of curiosities.
It had lots of taxidermy.

The hive of bees or wasps, I think.

This was the 'horny wall'.

There was a room about animals in the ice age.

In the middle of the room there was a diorama with all kinds of animals that lived during the ice age.

The skeleton of a cave bear!

It was really cool, but we were getting a bit hungry, as we hadn't eaten since breakfast. So we went in search of food.

Gilbert - A Trip to the Museum

At the end of April we got tickets to visit the Versace Exhibit at the Groninger Museum. We invited a friend to join us.

When we arrived at the museum we saw there was another exhibit as well: art from album covers made by studio Hipgnosis. We decided to check that out first.

There were some really cool pictures, like this lobster going for a walk.

A sheep lounging by the sea.

Oh! I recognize this!

There were several photos of the famous Pink Floyd pig! So cool to see.

Next it was time for Versace.

Yeah....
I'm probably an uncultured piggy, because this is not to my tastes.

I liked some of the punk and alternative inspired outfits.

But it was fun to look around and criticize the clothes on display.

View on the canal.

Seeing all these mannequins from behind was a bit surreal.

We also had a quick look at the permanent exhibit.

A flying robot.

Not sure what this is,

And I saw The standard-bearer by Rembrandt which was temporarily on display.

It was beautiful weather, so we went to the Gold Office where had drinks and nachos outside, enjoying the sun.

Later we went to friends for dinner and games. It was a really fun day!

Gilbert - A Visit to a Museum (part2)

Some of the statues looked a bit off.

I think this is Apollo.

Even back then they couldn't lie about liking big butts it seems.

I really liked this one.

This statue depicts the story of a hunter who spied on the Goddess Diana who was bathing. She turned him into a deer and he was attacked by his own hunting dogs.

The light circled through several colors on this statue.

A crocodile painting.

The people in Pompeï and Herculaneum really seemed to like Egyptian art.

This table leg in the shape og a lion's leg with a really small lion's head on top was a bit weird...

I think this was a chest to keep money and other valuables in.

Detail.

All in all it was a really interesting and impressive exhibition.
