Signs

This is the first post about signs, more will follow.
This is a couple of signs we pass on our way home from work. Can you tell what they are trying to say?

Something typical dutch: the dutch just love signs that explain all the rules and then even add extra signs that tell about the exception to the rules. Better be a fast reader if you live in the Netherlands or you will have lots of traffic behind you honking while you're trying to understand what's expected of you.

The bottom sign tells that the parkinglot is temporarily open for everyone and when it will be closed again.

A new Hippo and Easter Domo

There's a new hippo in our house since today. My owner bought a hippo creation kit awhile ago and today she magicked it into this small hippo named Samuel.

Otherwise nothing much exciting happened, except for Easter Domo practising in looking scary. I keep telling him to lose the ears as they don't really inspire fear, but he likes them too much.

Groningen

My owner and I went into town this afternoon with a good friend of my owner. We did look around for some cool signs to take photos of, this being one of them. We'll make a special signs post soon for Eve.

A view on one of the Groninger canals. Maybe not as famous as the canals in Amsterdam or Venice, but I think they're beautiful.

And keep a look out for a new post on my review blog as I will soon be reviewing the movies my owner, her friend and me and Voodoo Bride watched tonight.

Lots of reading today

A good friend of my owner always sends my owner cross stitch magazines that aren't for sale over here. Today we recieved two magazines and my owner was in one of them!

I did more reading today then just the cross stitch magazine. Moira wants to make me a post about food, so I did some research.

Sunday: Garnwerd!

Yes, it's becoming a Sunday tradition.
A nice long walk to Garnwerd if the weather allows it. Today it was hot and humid, but no rain so we put our walking boots on so to speak. On our way to Garnwerd we passed these beautiful flowers.

Relaxing my feet after the long walk to Garnwerd.

Me and my owner at café-restaurant Hammingh, where we always get something to eat and drink before we walk back to Groningen.

While my owner and her OH were still eating I tried to take some pictures with the camera of my owner's OH.

On our way back we passed these signs. The path we were walking on leads through some meadows where there are cows. and the second sign from above says you must not disturb the cattle.

Cindy, Eve and Moira

I decided that as you three are all loyal followers I'm not going to pick just one of you, but all three of you can name a topic that i'm going to try to make a post about!
Just leave a comment here as to what you want me to make a post about and I'll do my best.

Horse Graffiti

Yesterday we went for an evening walk and past a tunnel that had all kinds of graffiti.
Here's a picture of the ones I liked best.

the Honest Scrap award and some pictures

I got the honest Scrap Award from Eve
Thank you Eve!

This is what the award is about:

1. “The Honest Scrap” award is not one to hold all to your self but it must be shared!
2. First, the recipient has to tell 10 true things about themselves in their blog that no one else knows.
3. Second, the recipient has to pass along this prestigious award to 10 more bloggers.
4. Third, those 10 bloggers all have to be notified they have been given with this award.
5. Those 10 bloggers that receive this award should link back to the blog that awarded them “The Honest Scrap’ award.

10?! It seems like it keeps getting more and more!

Hmmm... Let me start with the honesty things:

1 - If I hadn't been adopted into the household of my owner and her OH, I would have spend my life as a keychain mascot.
2 - I'm not the first pig to escort my owner to her work, my brother Angus used to go with her, but he retired.
3 - Although the McPigs are scottish, we were brought to the Netherlands by the German company Nici.
4 - Even though I'm a pig, I do not like mud.
5 - One time when I was enjoying a short rest among the flowers, I got pollen on me and my owner had to wash my back to get it off or I would have had yellow spots on my back.
6 - The animals that I despise more then anything in the world are moths.
7 - I think 'Charlotte's Web' needs a couple of zombies to make it more interesting.
8 - I love the Killer Tomato movies.
9 - One of my favourite actors is Vinnie Jones
10 - I can't swim

Ehmm.... now about passing it on....
I think I'll pass as I really don't know 10 people to pass it on to..
On to today's pictures:

We went to a store to buy more paint for the door and there was a swing outside. I had to try it out ofcourse.

This old factory was turned into an office complex.
I'm glad they decided to keep the chimney.

Painting!

Our livingroom door had to be replaced and they gave us a white door. As our living room is a nice terra cotta red, the white door stood out like a polarbear among a herd of buffalo, so it had to be painted ofcourse. I must confess I didn't help as I was afraid I might get paint on me and red isn't a colour that looks good on me.

The Answers!

Well, I think I must have asked questions that were too difficult to answer for my anniversary post, but in case anyone still is wondering what the answers were:

This boy is named Bartje and he doesn't like beans.
Find the post on him here

This game is called Cockroachsoup. find it here

The name of the pig next to me is Chief Hairy Pig. find more about him here

The writer hugging me here is Midas Dekkers and he signed 'Piep' for me. Find more about my big signing adventure here and here

Well..... as no one guessed any of the questions I'm going to give everyone another try with a new question. I'll randomly pick one of the persons who answer this question correctly and that person gets to pick a topic for me to write about!

And what I'm asking you this time is: What is the name of my cousin in Canada?

Garnwerd

Yet another visit to Garnwerd today. The weather was very unstable: rain, sunshine, rain... So we were glad that this time we didn't have to walk, but were driven there by car.
Luckily there was sunshine when we arrived in Garnwerd so we could take a couple of nice pictures.

We visited a small store which sold all kinds of second hand items, like plates, mugs, photoframes, etc..

These flowers weren't for sale, but it was a nice spot for a short rest.

Sunshine behind the clouds.

Baron McPig!
Too bad it was only for decoration and couldn't really fly.

Art, Game and Voodoo Doll

This strange statue thing is on a square that we pass almost every day on our way to work. Usually there's lots of people standing around it as there's a school and a bus stop close by, but on saturday morning especially during school holidays it's deserted, so a nice opportunity to take a picture. I think it looks like a weird tree, but my owner's OH thinks it looks like a schematic of arteries.

After work we went into town and my owner bought me this McPig sized dice game called 'Regenwormen' (worms, or a more correct translation: rainworms). My owner and her OH already own the big (normal) version of the game, but this one is not only suitable for me, it can also be brought along on trips very easily. Useless fact: This game is made in Germany and originally it's called 'Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck'.

No, this isn't Moira who flew all the way from Canada if that's what you think! This is Moira's brother Gavin. When in town we found him a voodoo doll! Voodoo Bride is very happy with the new voodoo doll (who's called Bee) as it's a girl too. So now they can have girlish talks from time to time. And Moira: expect a small something coming your way in the near future (if we manage to fit in a trip to the post office).

Beautiful Gift and Twilight (not the movie)

My owner got a really beautiful Death collage from Eve!
Death is one of my owner's favourite characters from Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics and Eve made this especially for my owner. You can understand how proud my owner is to be given such a beautiful and special gift.

The backside is also very beautiful. We will have to find a way to display it so we can enjoy both sides of it. We'll probably end up in turning it around at certain intervals.
Eve: Thank you very much both from me and my owner!

In other news: we took a walk yesterday evening.
We enjoyed watching the darkening sky, very pretty!

If only I could climb those electricity poles, it must be a great view from up there.

I'm back!!

The re-install of my owner's computer is finally finished! So here are a couple of pictures of what I did the last couple of days when my owner wasn't tinkering with her computer.

We went into town and got an ice cream. It had chocolate, amarena and blueberry flavour.

We also went out for dinner with friends to the Pancake Ship. It's a ship that's been transformed into a restaurant and where you can get all kinds of pancakes. We got a Surinamese pancake, it was delicious.

They also had a big jar of syrup for on your pancake, but I don't think curry and syrup go well together.

Still busy with the re-install

I just wanted to let everybody know that my owner is very busy with trying to re-install windows on her computer, so that's why there haven't been posts the last couple of days.
We do hope to be back very soon!

Cake, Water and Sand - An update by Moira

Today another post by Moira.

Hello Sullivan and everybode else! I helped make an Angel Food cake with strawberries, blueberries and lemon whipped cream!! It was delicious!!

We also went on another fun outing:
Here I am at the lake and fishing with Princess!

Hanging out with Moxie in the shade on the boat.

Relaxing again in the shade - I think I am noticing a theme here...

I found this very cool tree on the beach - it had this weird branch sticking out that made a good place to have a rest and watch Princess play in the water.

The Lake - so pretty!

Moxie and I playing in the sand and looking for gold - or rocks, whichever we find first.

A short note at the end of this post:
It could be that there isn't going to be a post in a couple of days as Sullivan's owner is going to try a complete re-install of her computer. So if we're going MIA suddenly you know it isn't because we ran off or something, but because the re-install isn't going as we want it to.
