Christmas Market Bremen - part 2

We spent a lot of time exploring the market. There were lots of cool things to see and the darker it got the more beautiful everything looked, all lit up.

I got a large cup of hot chocolate with mint.
Yum!

On a small square we found a tower with bells next to it.

When the clock struck six the bells started playing and a part of the tower started turning to show pictures of people. I think it was about important travelers. I saw a viking and Columbus, and other explorers and travelers. It was really cool.

After we saw the moving tower we went to get another drink. I got Glühwein with cherries. It was so good!!!

We saw a lot of cool things and lots of pretty lights. Finally when we were getting tired we went back to the house of the friend where we were staying. It was a really cool day!

Christmas Market in Bremen

I went to the Christmas Market in Bremen - Germany - last weekend

We would be staying at the house of a friend so we first put our luggage there and then walked towards the city center. I spotted this statue along the way.

I explored it of course.

There were lots of cool buildings.

A church!

It was the Dom of Bremen.
We had to see it from up close of course.

I think this is a gryphon.

The inside of the Dom was beautiful.

Oh, we reached the Christmas Market.

There were lots of stands with Christmas ornaments and other cool Christmassy stuff.

And lots of Christmas decorations everywhere.

And look what I spotted!

The Bremen town musicians!
There's a really cool fairytale about these animals, although I think it would have been even cooler if there was a pig with them also.

Luckily I also found a really cool pig statue as we were exploring the market and the city.

We also found a windmill.

This is the main train station. There was a Christmas market there as well.

When it got darker the lights everywhere made things look really beautiful.

What a cool Christmas Market.

More pictures tomorrow!

I Meet One of My Favorite Authors

Last Sunday it was a special day:
Dana Cameron and her husband - Mr. G. - were visiting the Netherlands and came to Groningen to meet us!

Dana Cameron is one of my favorite authors, so you bet I was excited to meet her.
We went to the station to meet her Mr. G. and then went to the city center for some sightseeing.

We showed them the beautiful Martini Tower of course.
The bells were going crazy while we were looking at the tower and church. I think they were celebrating that I had such cool visitors.

We did some more sightseeing.
This is the Province House.

We took a walk around the canals.

After some sight seeing it was time for lunch.
We went to the Gold Office.

It was a warm, sunny day, so I got a bottle of cooled cider.

And a yummy toasted sandwich.
We talked about Groningen, America, books, and more. It was lots of fun.

After lunch we climbed the Martini tower to enjoy the view.
Then we walked back to the station, but had to take a big detour, because there was a run in the city center.

I got to pose with Dana at the statue of 't Peerd van Ome Loeks (Uncle Loek's Horse).

And also with both Dana and Mr. G.

Then we got something to drink at the cafe of the Groninger Museum, and we talked some more about all kinds of things.

Finally Dana and Mr. G. had to get back to Amsterdam, where they were staying in a hotel. It was really cool to meet them and show them Groningen.

We then went back to the city center and had dinner at Sumo, a restaurant with all kinds of yummy Oriental food.

Back home we sat down to rest our feet, and to look at the book we got as a gift from Dana, which she signed for us as well! (She also signed two books for us that we brought with us.)

It was an amazing day!

Thanks, Dana & Mr. G.
