Teaser Tuesdays - The Red Gate

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: - Grab your current read - Open to a random page - Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) - Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I'm on page 145 right now and really liking this book so far. It's intriguing and I love the writing style.

He mused upon how he had found adult life: ill-fitting, like a suit of clothes that bunched and lumped up under the arms, tight enough to make breathing an effort. It didn't really suit him, yet here he was, dressed head to toe in his life as a grown man, but feeling still, like the boy he'd been all those years ago.

Hippo Card

First of all an apology for not commenting at other blogs at the moment, but blogger has decided I'm not allowed to comment at most blogs I visit.

On to my post for today:

We got a really beautiful card from Hammie and G. in the mail.

It says:
I'm cute, I'm sweet
Always nice and ready to help
But if you're going to yell at me
I'm going to sit on you suddenly

(well, it's a rough translation, but you get the meaning, I hope)

Thanks Hammie! We love it!

Work and Mail

It was very nice weather today, so during our breaks I went to the balcony where I enjoyed the sun and the view.

When we got home there was mail from the US with lots of stamps on it.

It turned out to be mail from the Moira Rogers duo.
I had won bookmarks and lots of beautiful cards in one of their giveaways.

Thanks Bree and Donna!

A Green Present

There was a package from Beanie today!
It contained one of Beanie's beautiful cards and a mysterious plastic box. According to the card it contained something delicate from the Isle of Wight.

Inside the plastic box was lots of shredded paper and a smaller carton box.

Wow!
In the carton box was a gorgeous glass piggy! And it's green!

What a brilliantly cool present!

Thanks so much Beanie, it's an amazing and beautiful present!

Kermis

Yesterday evening a friend of my owner took us to the Kermis (a kind of fair). They had a really cool looking Spookyhouse.

And a huge ferriswheel.
Doesn't it look beautiful with those lights?

There were also all kinds of other rides.

And a second Spookyhouse!

I got to play a game where I had to throw coloured balls at a target. If you managed to hit the target you got plastic coins which you could collect and finally trade for a prize. We collected lots of coins.

And look what I got when I traded my coins!
Two new friends and two pirate keyrings.

Olaf and Other Things

Yesterday we were invited by NAAM to a special showing of an short animated movie called 'Olaf, Happy Little Cannon'. NAAM is one of the creators of this movie.

At the entrance of the theater you could get your picture taken with Olaf.

It turned out to be a really cool and funny movie!

After the movie I spotted a soapbubble machine on the balcony of the theater!

And look at the beautiful view we had.

Finally we decided to find something to eat.
I spotted this mexican restaurant which had a dog on the window while there was a sign right next to it that said that dogs weren't allowed there. I hope the restaurant won't get into trouble. We went to eat somewhere else just in case.

Smelling the rose(s) ;-)

Look: a special seat for me with a bowl attached to it to put food in.

Hmmm, wonder what this tastes like.

Even though it had jalapeno peppers in it it didn't taste too hot.

All in all we had a great day!

Madame Diamond's Tarot Card of the Day

Eight of Swords

The 8 of Swords is a card of restriction, lack of confidence, confinement and being tied down against one's will. The element here is Air which relates to challenges, conflicts and the mental aspects of our lives. The storms on the path of life that we have to navigate through. In numerology a number has positive, negative & destructive influences. The suite of Swords tends to focus on the negative and destructive. The negative aspects of the number 8 in numerology are bullying, abuse, oppression, injustice. The positive aspect are of power and control. With the 8 of Swords the power and control is in the hands of others and the person is suffering at their hands.

A Walk and a Find

We went for a walk yesterday. It had rained the day before and everything looked fresh and green.

And look:
I found a golfball!
I wonder how it got there. Maybe it floated there as it's a floater golfball.

Zoo Pictures - Part 2

In the Americasa building I spotted a turtle!
(Or tortoise, I always get them confused as we just call all of them schildpad.)

And we saw buffalos.

I also met another one of my cousins.

After a chat with my cousin we ran into a hungry looking goat, so I hid in my owner's bag as the goat looked like he might try to eat me.

I didn't trust this donkey either!

When we got something to eat I spotted this ladybug and we took a picture for Hammie and G.

Chocolate muffin!

Hmmm.... I don't think I've seen pinecones like this before.

When we got to the elephants they were all waiting at the gate as it was almost time for their dinner. I wonder if they eat muffins too.

And after a fun afternoon it was time to catch a bus back to Groningen.

I hope we'll visit the zoo again next year.
I always love going there.
