A trip to Rome - I visit the Pantheon

After we got something to drink we visited the Pantheon.

The Pantheon used to be a temple for Roman Gods, but in the middle ages it was turned into a church.

In front of the Pantheon is a large fountain.

It has fish and other creatures on it.

I thought the fish looked like they really wanted a drink, but they couldn't reach it. Poor fishies. With the hot sun shining on us I could relate.

A closer look at the entrance of the Pantheon.

One of the main features of the Pantheon is this round hole in the roof.

It's called the Oculus and catches enough light during the day that no lamps are needed to illuminate the inside of the Pantheon.

And it's a beautiful sight as well I think.

There's lots of statues inside the Pantheon.

This one was a bit weird because the two figures were so different in size while both were supposed to be adult people.

Another look at the Oculus

And I even captured the Oculus on film.

After our visit to the Pantheon it was time for something to eat.

Pizza with potato! Yum!
Why don't we have those at home?
