A Trip to Berlin - Day 3 & 4

The heat kept waving so we took it easy for a large part of day three as well.
In the afternoon we went to an expo with pictures by Corbijn, but we forgot to take pictures of our own there.

Afterwards we had a drink somewhere, did some sightseeing while walking to our next destination and had ice cream.

Cool building.

We had dinner at a Greek restaurant.

The food was delicious!

Random buildings I spotted on the way home.

On day 4 we were kind of floored by the heat, so we took it very easy most of the day.
We went for breakfast and grocery shopping and then read until the end of the afternoon.

Then we took an S-train to meet up with out friends for dinner at a Taco restaurant.
(My owner had evil fries, so I didn't take a picture)

We then walked to our next destination.
I stopped to take pictures of this church.

We went to a concert!
This is CocoRosie.
They were very cool!

A Trip to Berlin - Day 1 & 2

We went for a loooong bus ride at the end of June.
It was just during the heatwave, but luckily we traveled at night.

After 8 hours we arrived in Berlin!
We took an S-train from the bus station to the house of friends. They had invited us to stay with them a few days. We then rested from the long trip for most of the day.

We wanted to visit a biergarten (beer garden) in the afternoon, but it was closed for a private party.

We ended up on the terrace of a Korean restaurant.
They had yummy cocktails.

We decided to get something to eat as well.

I had a kind of Kimchi soup.
It was delicious!

On our second day we started with a lovely breakfast.

On our walk back from the breakfast place to the house of our friends I spotted a weird statue of cats worshiping or sacrificing an owl...

We stayed indoors for the warmest part of the day and played games.

Then we went to the biergarten for a second try.
I spotted this colorful window.

It was still really warm, so we took it easy and enjoyed the sights.

Then we reached the biergarten and... it was closed because of the heat!
Outrageous!

We then called another biergarten to ask if they were open.
Luckily they were, so we went over there instead.

All's well that ends with a piggy getting a nice cool drink!

Gilbert - A Fun Trip part 2: Buildings & Food

After looking around in the city center of Leer we went in search of the hunting lodge.

Random building in Leer I should have posted with the previous post.

We found the hunting lodge.
It didn't looks impressive, and we didn't want to visit the garden or spend money to look around inside.

We did spot a church across the street though!

We decided to have a closer look

There was a small, but beautiful graveyard.

And a church bell...

Hunting lodge as seen from the graveyard

Next we drove on to Diana's house.
We relaxed a bit, and in the evening we went out for dinner.

I had a cocktail!
(Swimming Pool)

There were all kinds of yummy snacks.

And a delicious dessert!

More on my trip soon (probably).

Gilbert - A Fun Trip part 1: Birds & More

In May we went on a trip!
Diana came to pick us up to stay at her place for a couple of days.
But before driving to her house:

We went to an event!
'De slag bij Heiligerlee'
It's a reenactment of a battle from 1568.
The battle wouldn't start for a couple of hours when we arrived, but there was other stuff to see as well, so we walked around for a bit.

We met this monk and his owl!
He told us there was a bird show that had just started, so we went there to watch of course.

There was a vulture!

Isn't she cool?!

I forgot what kind of bird this was, but it had learned to hunt together with the dog. Very fun to see them work together.

Well, this bird doesn't need introduction!

After seeing the bird show we walked around some more, but it was very wet and rainy, so we didn't wait for the battle to start. Instead we drove on to Leer.

Leer is a city in Germany.
We had heard it was a nice city to see and that there was a hunting lodge.

It started raining here as well.
So we decided to go in search for a late lunch first.

Found it!
And it was yummy!

We did some sightseeing when it stopped raining.
