The next day we decided to go for another walk. We first admired the WWII motorbike that one of the people who stayed with us in the house had brought. Isn't it cool!
We wanted to visit the American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, which was only a few kilometers away from where we were staying. It was a difficult journey, because there was no sidewalk and we had to keep dodging Jeeps and other vehicles. We didn't take pictures because of that, except for:
How awesome is this?
There was a car with this cow on it. It was an ad for a soda called Meuh.
After some more Jeep-dodging we reached the cemetery.
The American cemetery was really impressive. So many crosses. And to think these are just the American soldiers who died.
We didn't want to play 'dodge that Jeep' a second time, so after visiting the cemetery we decided to walk back to the house along Omaha Beach. Luckily we found a path that led down to the beach.
At the beach we saw a large group of teens in military uniform. I think they were from a British military school.
Even though it was another overcast day, we enjoyed our time on the beach.
When we reached the promenade I discovered some pretty flowers.
After a long walk we reached D-Day House, a restaurant. It was time for a beer. And I tried one of the shells I found as a hat.
We also got some food: Calamari and French fries.
On our way back to the house we found a Stag Beetle.
Isn't it beautiful?
Coming next: bunkers and more
