Today I want to show you some pictures from a book we bought at a fleamarket last weekend. (Fleamarket was very dull otherwise, so didn't take pictures of the fleamarket).
It's called: "Waar Gebeurd, sentiment en sensatie uit de oude doos" = Truely Happened (True Stories), sentiment and sensation from the old box.
(From the old box is a dutch expression to say it's from the past but not too far in the past: like getting it from an old box where your grandmother stored it if you know what I mean.)
Anyway: it's got translated stories and really cool pictures that were publiced in an english newspaper from 1870 and 1871.
The stories are about things that happened back then and were newsworthy in a weird or sensational way. This picture for example is for a story about two lovers who commited suicide together.
This picture and story are about a man who took a nap at the zoo and when he woke up there was an ostrich on his head who thought his head was an egg.
All in all there's some stories that I doubt truely happened, but the pictures are very beautiful and the stories are fun to read.

sounds like a interesting book. I like the way things translate not so perfectly. It always makes me smile and try to figure out what ever the translation means! lol.
this looks my kind of book! :)
Ok, that book is officially cool.
I agree with everyone. That book rules! Love the illustrations. :)
