A Trip to Schiermonnikoog - Day 1

Last weekend we went on another trip!
My owner's OtherHalf had organized an expo on Schiermonnikoog, the most beautiful island of the Netherlands in my opinion, so we went there for the official opening of the expo.

But first we had to visit the beach of course!

I read the rules to make sure I didn't violate the law. There were some rules for dogs, but none for pigs.

I spotted the red lighthouse in the distance.

There was a restaurant on the beach, and we wanted to get something to drink, but the restaurant was closed because of a wedding, even though their sign said they were opened daily.

There was a large pool of water on the beach that prevented us from reaching the sea. We didn't feel like getting our feet wet, so we decided to just take a walk on the beach.

After our walk on the beach we had a drink, and then walked on to the village to have lunch.

Then it was time for the official opening of the expo. There were three different locations for the expo, but the opening was in a church.

All the art that was displayed was inspired by the island Schiermonnikoog. There were some really beautiful pieces.

This one is based on a story about nasty, demon-like critters that live in the dunes of Schiermonnikoog.

After the opening we celebrated with a nice glass of booze. I forgot the exact name of this liquor but it had something to do with the number 43.

We sat and relaxed for a while until it was time to have dinner.

On our way to the hotel-restaurant where we would have dinner, I spotted this cool street-art.

And a butterfly.

There were handy signs showing you the way on most crossroads.

Duinzicht
The hotel-restaurant where we had dinner. It was so delicious I forgot to take pictures.

After dinner we made our way to the farm where we had rented a room for the night.

It was a beautiful evening.

I had a great day!

Coming next: the lighthouse and more.
