It was lovely weather so I spent the afternoon outside in the sun reading my ARC of Horde.

A Sunset, Mail and a Partying McPig

Yesterday evening there was a beautiful sunset and I just had to take a picture of it.


Today there was lots of mail.
There was this beautiful card with pigs from Jerry & Ben.

There was swag from Kerrelyn Sparks for Voodoo Bride.
Voodoo Bride got some extra swag from Kerrelyn as well, that she'll be giving away on our review blog this August.

That deserved some dancing and partying!

I Made a Mock Cover for Ann Aguirre!

Some of you might know I'm a huge fan of Ann Aguirre and her books.

So when Ann held a contest to make a mock cover for a Young Adult book she wrote and offered an Advance Reader Copy of Horde, the final book in her amazing Razorland Trilogy, as a prize for the winner I had to enter.

I convinced my owner to help me and this is what we made:



And I won!

This cover will be up on Ann's website until the real cover has been made.

And I'll get to reveal the real cover on my review blog!

I'm really proud and very excited.

If you don't hear me from me in a while it'll be because I'm stalking my mailbox, waiting for my Horde ARC and once it arrives I'll be reading!

I won Beanie's monthly giveaway and he send me a package full of beautiful cards and such.

Signed Books, Presents and More

Yesterday I got a visit from Aurian and her friend Maia. Aurian took some of our books with her to a convention in Berlin to get them signed. She brought them with her and she even had more goodies for us.


Voodoo Bride gave Aurian two books to sign and she got those back and Aurian had a third signed book for Voodoo Bride. Maya Banks has been on Voodoo Bride's wishlist for some time so she's very happy with this book.

There were lots of goodies from Vivian Arend and Wolfie.
We gave Aurian one book to get signed for us, but she returned with two and some cool extras.


Wolfie signed this book for us!

Thanks Wolfie, we'll treasure it.


This signed book was a gift from Vivian to us.


And we got a dog tag, a key ring and a small container.


It contained a horse shoe charm and a pin with the Canadian Maple leaf!

Aurian had a really cool present for me as well.

We had a great afternoon talking about books and other things and in the evening we went into town, so Aurian and Maia could compare the Martini Tower with the Dom Tower. They thought the Dom Tower was more beautiful, but I think the Martini tower is the best!


After that we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant.

It was a really fun day and I hope to meet up with Aurian and Maia again soon.

Lots of Bookmarks

I'm very happy with them, they turned out awesome.


And I got a whole box full!
I'll be handing them out at a convention I'm going to this autumn, but if any of my regular followers want a bookmark, let me know.

The Armadillo in Utrecht

When we went to Utrecht this week the Armadillo came along as well. He heard many stories about my travels and wanted to see Utrecht as well. He loves trees and water, so we made a walk along one of the canals.

Icons and Beer

Yesterday we went on a surprise outing to Utrecht!


We visited one of my favorite spots:
The small cloister garden near the Dom tower.






I love this building with its stone ornaments and gargoyles.


I tried to see how I'd do as a gargoyle.
Not bad, I think.


Next we went to the Catherijne Convent museum where there was a exhibition about Icons


It was really interesting. They even showed all the stages in painting an Icon.

I got to pick a small souvenir for myself and I chose this 'bidprentje' (In memoriam card?) which I think is very beautiful. It depicts Saint Mechtilde.


Then it was time for food and a nice cold beer.




After that we did some shopping and finally we went to a restaurant next to one of the canals for:


More yummy food: papadums.


And more beer while enjoying the last bit of sun.


And then it was time to return home after a really cool day out.
