Royal Birthday

Today me and my owner (and almost all of the Netherlands) are celebrating the birthday of Queen Beatrix.

(Her actual birthday is in January I think, but the queen always celebrates her birthday on April 30th.)

Hamming and Poffert

Today we went for a walk and we stopped at café-restaurant Hammingh for a meal.

Hmmm......
Beef, salmon, more beef....

Now this is more like it!
I didn't think to bring the Ranch dressing though, so mayonaise it is!

And a nice cool beer!



For dessert we had Poffert with ice cream.
Poffert is a kind of cake, but less sweet than cake. It's got vanilla in it and it's served warm. It's a tradional Groninger dish and this was the first time I got to try it.

It was really tasty!
We should have Poffert again soon I think.

Chocolate and Books

There was a huge package today for me and Voodoo Bride from Jess Haines.

We got the package because Voodoo Bride won a contest on Jess'blog and because Jess is awesome!



There was tons of yummie chocolatey goodness in the package. We had to put it in containers to keep it all from taking over the available space on the dining-table.



Oh! Chocolate pretzels! And even more yummie chocolate

And Ranch dressing. According to Jess it's delicious if you dip your french fries in it. I will give that a try. Usually I use mayonaise.

And last, but certainly not least: Three signed books!

Taken by the Others is for a friend of ours as we already have a signed copy of that book, but the others are all ours!!!

Dandelion and Chocolate

After work we went for a walk.
Lots of dandelions are already done blooming.

When we got home there was a package from my owner's friend Jan.
There was chocolate and an Easter card inside.

And look:
The chocolate was meant as a kind of toy as well.
You can make funny animals with it!

Easter Travels

Yesterday we visited my owner's family to catch up on some birthdays. It was beautiful weather and we sat outside enjoying the sun and cool drinks.



In the evening we went home again by train.

While we were waiting for the train to arrive I did some exploring.

I wonder what that circle is for.

Maybe it's for indicating where you have to sit and wait for the train.





But my owner and her OtherHalf didn't feel like sitting on the ground while waiting, so finally I went over to the bench they were sitting on to wait together with them.

We had a great day!

The First BBQ of 2011

It was such beautiful weather yesterday that we decided to have a bbq. I was in charge of the cheese.

There's nothing better than watching a beautiful sunset after a great meal.

Piggy Easter Mail

There was mail today for me and my owner and it had piggy stickers on the envelope.

It turned out to be a lovely Easter card from Marlowe and his Mom.

Chocolate Bunnies

There were whole armies of chocolate bunnies at work today. It turned out that everyone was getting a chocolate bunny as an Easter present.

Oh no! One of the bunnies had a nasty accident!

But after a quick fix the bunny was turned into a silver bunny ghost!

Another Sunny Day

The beautiful weather is holding up and as we had the day off today, my owner and me spend some time relaxing outside on the balcony.

We got a free puzzle book and I solved a couple of the puzzles.

Late in the afternoon we went for a walk and I paused from time to time to smell the flowers. A great day.

Enjoying Spring

Today it was another lovely, sunny day and during our work-breaks I enjoyed the sun and all the beautiful flowers outside.



After work we had a picnic with delicious bread and other yummie things.

Monday Randomness

Easter Branches

Today we went into town to buy a nice Easter branch. We first made a stop at a croissanterie though to get lunch. There were lots of different salads and stuff to chose from.

When we got home we got out our Easter decorations.

And then we decorated the Easter branches we bought! It looks fun and festive I think.
