I Meet One of My Favorite Authors

Last Sunday it was a special day:
Dana Cameron and her husband - Mr. G. - were visiting the Netherlands and came to Groningen to meet us!

Dana Cameron is one of my favorite authors, so you bet I was excited to meet her.
We went to the station to meet her Mr. G. and then went to the city center for some sightseeing.

We showed them the beautiful Martini Tower of course.
The bells were going crazy while we were looking at the tower and church. I think they were celebrating that I had such cool visitors.

We did some more sightseeing.
This is the Province House.

We took a walk around the canals.

After some sight seeing it was time for lunch.
We went to the Gold Office.

It was a warm, sunny day, so I got a bottle of cooled cider.

And a yummy toasted sandwich.
We talked about Groningen, America, books, and more. It was lots of fun.

After lunch we climbed the Martini tower to enjoy the view.
Then we walked back to the station, but had to take a big detour, because there was a run in the city center.

I got to pose with Dana at the statue of 't Peerd van Ome Loeks (Uncle Loek's Horse).

And also with both Dana and Mr. G.

Then we got something to drink at the cafe of the Groninger Museum, and we talked some more about all kinds of things.

Finally Dana and Mr. G. had to get back to Amsterdam, where they were staying in a hotel. It was really cool to meet them and show them Groningen.

We then went back to the city center and had dinner at Sumo, a restaurant with all kinds of yummy Oriental food.

Back home we sat down to rest our feet, and to look at the book we got as a gift from Dana, which she signed for us as well! (She also signed two books for us that we brought with us.)

It was an amazing day!

Thanks, Dana & Mr. G.

Bookish Goodies

There was a package for me yesterday!
I won a giveaway on Instagram by Danielle L. Jensen

I got two tins of tea, a candle, a pen, body butter and scrub, and an audio book! I received the audio book on my Audible account, but Danielle included a signed card of the book.

How awesome!

Stay tuned for more awesomeness tomorrow.

Lunch with Hammie

I met Hammie today for lunch!
I got to eat Fish and Chips from a newspaper! Yum!

We hung out in my owner's bag together with a piggy and hedgehog Hammie brought along as presents.
It was fun to catch up. We also did some shopping after lunch and I of course bought some books.

We should do this more often.
Thanks for the fun afternoon, Hammie and G.

What's the Piggy Been Doing?

I've finally done some things besides reading and gaming.

On August 28 I went to a book market and got two me-sized books.

Last Thursday we heard our favorite restaurant was closing at the end of August, so we decided to eat there one last time.

Yum Yum!

After our meal we said goodbye to the restaurant.

Bye, bye, cooks. Thanks for all those awesome meals.

I'll miss this place.

The main entrance.

Bye, lions and Buddha.

One last picture with one of the lions.

On Friday we were meeting my owner's aunt.
We went to the station to greet her as soon as she arrived.

We went into town for a lovely lunch, but my owner forgot to take a picture. After lunch we visited the Martini tower and we climbed it!

I think these ropes are to ring the bells.

The tower has bells that can play all kinds of songs. I'm not sure if these were those bells or just replicas. I think replicas, because bells should be bigger, right?

That's more like it!

We had a great view!

We even went higher, but they put wire at the windows, so you couldn't fall off.

We climbed all the steps down again and showed my owner's aunt the dragon outside of the tower.

We did some shopping and sightseeing and my owner and me got a book gift card from her aunt, so we bought two books of course. At the end of the afternoon my owner's aunt went back home. We had an awesome day!

At home a package from Jeffe was waiting for us, and it was full of books! There were also marzipan piggies for me. Thanks, Jeffe!

Today we got a present from my owner's best friend:

Zomlings!
They're zombielike creatures, and they are really cool! I immediately made a picture of them with one of my zombie books.

One of the Zomlings is a piggy!

Thanks, K!

Still Alive

I'm still around, but not doing anything new and exciting at the moment.

I did go out for a yummy dinner.

And we made pancakes.
Mine was shaped like a piggy.

Today I received cool preorder swag from Jodi Meadows, because I preordered As She Ascends.

Heiligerlee - part 3

All the troops were gathering.

And the battle began.
The Dutch even had horses!

The Dutch advance.
There were cannons and muskets. The smoke of those obscured the battlefield.

The Spaniards were returning fire.

As the fighting continued this woman ran past. I think she was a battle nurse.

It was a really cool battle with lots of skirmishes.

The horses were very brave. They didn't seem to mind all the smoke and fighting.

The Spaniards kept on firing cannons.

But the Dutch won ground and after a tense battle they defeated the Spaniards! The roasted pig had been avenged!

After the battle the troops walked through the encampment and we took some more pictures.

We made a final round of the market and talked with this woman who could make book covers out of fish-skin. Very cool!

She had a comfy bed in her tent. I wouldn't mind camping with a bed like that.

Then it was time for something to eat!

French fries. Yum!

What an awesome day.
