A Trip to the Coast

Today we made a trip to the coast.
We had heard that because of the cold weather parts of the sea had frozen over so we wanted to see if that was true of course.

Here you see a canal that ends in the sea. It was indeed frozen.

Doesn't look safe to walk on though.

So we walked a bit closer to the sea.

And here I am!
Standing on a sea of ice, literally.

The ice looked very uneven and bubbly, but my owner told me that there was only a little bit of water underneath this ice, so even if the ice would break we wouldn't drown, just get our feet wet.

And look what I found:
It seems a bird tried to sit on the ice and got frozen to it. When he got free he left behind some of his feathers.

Beautiful sky and ice picture spam.

After a long walk on the ice we had a nice hot drink.

And Snert!
(Snert = Pea Soup)

It was a great afternoon!

Snert is pea soup? I thought it was a response to sarcasm! Love the pics of the frozen sea. the feather whorl is particularly wonderful.

Ouch! I'd hate to be that bird missing feathers off my butt! Looks cold. Brrrr. :) Hot drinks to warm up are always fun. What a day you had :)

So glad you didn't fall through the ice or get stuck to it.

I don't think I like pea soup, not even if you call is snert.

Beautiful pics! And love that little stocking cap. Is that hot drink hot chocolate? It looks yummy!!!I never heard pea soup called that (I will chalk that up to what I learned new today), but by either name, it is delicious.

I'm glad you had a warm hat on and I bet that bird was really upset about losing it's feathers.

Last week we made a walk with Harr's Mom and Dad and we saved a swan that got stuck on the ice! We saw that it couldn't get up and went to get help for him! When we came back home there was an item on the news that said that swans get stuck on/in the ice because they sit on the ice and then the warmth of their body melts the ice and when they sit there to long the ice starts to get frozen again and the feathers get in the ice!!! This swan was waiting for us to find him because when we got help for him the people told us that his name is the same as the real name of Poes! Isn't that strange? Nobody had noticed him that day!
