High Tea, Books, and Other Awesome Things

Today Aurian and Freya paid me and my owner a visit for our birthday!

They brought lots of books and goodies, but more about that later.

We spent a couple of hours chatting, before we went to 't Feithhuis, a restaurant in the center of Groningen.
('t Feithhuis means the Feith House. Feith being the name of a family that used to own the building the restaurant is in.)

We were going to be served a High Tea.
I got Mango tea.

And we got all these yummy snacks!

Especially the scones, muffin and quiches looked very tasty!

We had a great time tasting all those delicious snacks, and we talked some more about books, and other fun things. It was a really great afternoon.

Here's a picture of the front of the restaurant

It's right across the street from the Martini church and Martini tower.

At the end of the afternoon Aurian and Freya had to travel back to Utrecht.

I got busy with drooling over all the books and goodies:

Look at all the books I added to my collection!

We also got cider and rum from Aurian and Freya.
Yum, yum.

Aurian got us magnets, and signed bookplates and postcards from the Katherine "Kitty" Katt series by Gini Koch. It's one of our favorite series, so we're very happy with this cool present.

And last, but certainly not least:

We got a picture that Suzanne Johnson made especially for me and my owner! She sent it to Aurian, so Aurian could surprise me.
You can't see it in this picture, but on the hat it says: Sullivan McPig Rocks. Isn't that cool?! I'm very happy with it!

So all in all we had an awesome day and got lots of cool books and presents!

Thanks Aurian, Freya and Suzanne!

Flying Pig and a New Hat

My owner got a birthday present from her colleagues yesterday.

It's a new piggy friend!
His name is Bungee and he can fly.

And today I got a present from a colleague.
A new hat.

I think this hat makes me look very sophisticated and swanky!

Thanks everyone!

A Birthday trip - Day 4, and Birthday Mail and Presents

Saturday we had to go home again.
We had breakfast and packed our bags.

Then we went for a last walk towards the dunes.

The red lighthouse.

At the start of the afternoon we took the boat back to the main land.

Enjoying the sun.

We then took a bus back to Groningen and were back home at the end of the afternoon.

It was a wonderful trip, and I hope we will visit Schiermonnikoog again soon.

----------------

At home there were a couple of birthday cards waiting for us!

And lots of cool presents from Miki.

I love this bookmark she stitched for us.

Thanks Miki!
You are awesome.

A Birthday Trip - Day 3

On my birthday we woke up to a clear sky!

The water tower was bathed in sunlight.

It looked beautiful in my opinion.

After breakfast we set out for a long walk. There were some clouds, but mostly it was dry.

We walked through the forest towards the beach and stopped for a moment on my favorite spot.
It's right at the edge of the forest, and you can see the dunes and the beach and sea in the distance.

When we reached the beach the sun came out again.

There was a strong wind blowing, but with the sun shining it was a lovely day to be on the beach for a walk.

We walked close to the shore and enjoyed the weather and the beautiful sight of the dark, wild sea with the blue sky above it.

What a lovely winter day.

The wind kept blowing across the beach though, so after walking on the beach for a while we were getting just a bit cold.

Time for a warm drink at Marlijn, a restaurant that's close to the beach.

I got hot chocolate with Rum in it!
That warmed me up fast.

After our drink we made our way back to the village.

We first had a look in one of the bunkers that were build into the dunes though.

Back in the village we visited friends, and had dinner with them. We had lots of fun.

Back in the hotel it was time for a bottle of cider.

And a platter with snacks!

We played some more games and had a really great evening.

What an awesome birthday!

A Birthday Trip - Day 2

Thursday morning we started our day with breakfast.

There were all kinds of jams, chocolate toppings, and butter to chose from.

And a basket full of bread.

We started with a croissant, an egg, orange juice and tea.
It was all very yummy.

It was a very grey and rainy day though, so after breakfast we hurried to the grocery store to get some provisions, and then we holed up in our hotel room to read and relax while we waited for the weather to clear up.

At the end of the afternoon it finally cleared up enough to go outside and not be rained on.

The sun was already setting again.

We decided to go for a walk, now that it finally was dry.

The dark sky and the lights of the houses and the lighthouse did look beautiful I thought.

After our walk we went out for dinner.
I had curly fries!

We then returned to our hotel room for more reading and relaxing. We heard it would be better weather on Friday, so I went to bed hoping my birthday would bring a clear sky.

A Birthday Trip - Day 1

Last Wednesday I was told to pack my bag, because we (my owner, her OtherHalf and I) were going on a trip to celebrate the birthday of me and my owner.

How exciting!

First we had to take a bus.

It was snowing!
Sadly enough it was not cold enough for the snow to stay, it melted as soon as it touched the ground.

The bus had a button you could push if you wanted it to stop at a certain bus stop. My owner told me we didn't have to use it though. We were riding the bus all the way to its last stop.

The snow stopped, and it was dark and cloudy.

But then we came to the last stop, and it was sunny for a while.
And we got to take a boat! Now I knew where we were going: Schiermonnikoog. It's a small island at the north coast of the Netherlands. We've been there before, and it's a beautiful place to be.

After the boat trip we took another bus to get to the village on the island, which is also called Schiermonnikoog, and we came to the hotel where we'd be staying: Duinzicht.

We got a room with comfy chairs.

And very soft and comfy beds.

The long trip had tired us out a bit, so we rested up for a while.

Then we went to the restaurant of Duinzicht for dinner.
I had very yummy bread and some potatoes, but I forgot to take a picture of it.

After dinner it was already very dark, still we went out for a walk towards the lighthouse.

In the dark you could only see the lights, and not the lighthouse itself.

When we got back from our walk we were cold, so we sat close to the fire place to warm up again.

We got something to drink and played Biggen (Piglets), a dice game were you use dice that are shaped like pigs.

After a few games we went to our room for some sleep.
