A Birthday, Titanic, Whales and more

Yesterday me and my owner had our birthday.
Lots of people send us birthday cards and wishes I want to say thanks to all of them!

I got some really cool DVD's for my birthday!
Two zombie movies, a thriller about Edgar Allan Poe and Rio.
I look forward to watching them all.

For our birthday my owner's OtherHalf took us to the Maritime Museum. There was an expo about the Titanic and Dutch people who where on the Titanic.

Actual White Star Line china.
So amazing to see those for real!

The man on the left side in this picture is Hendrik Bolhuis.
He was a cook on the Titanic and was from Groningen. He drowned when the Titanic sank.

We also looked at the other exhibits at the Maritime Museum. This is an old map of Groningen

I also spotted a drinking horn with an animal head on it.

There was a book with these really cool whale drawings.

And there were some weird drawings...
These drawings of whales were made by someone who never saw a real whale and tried to draw them after seeing a whale skeleton.

A frowny person of importance.

This statue had a crocodile hat with an extra crocodile on top!

A giant wooden fish.

After our visit to the museum we went out for dinner and I had a cocktail with a small umbrella.

It was a really fun day!

Going Out for Dinner

This monday we went to our favorite restaurant for an early birthday dinner with friends.

We tried the Asian Fusion cuisine where you get to try all kinds of dishes

There were many yummy things to chose from.
Hmmmm... what should I try first?

I had spicy tuna sushi.

And a really yummy soup with mushrooms and vegetables.

And Litchi ice cream for dessert.

It was a really fun evening!

Random Penguin Once More

Here is the last post of Random Penguin's exploits during his stay in Groningen

Random Penguin was happy to see it started to freeze. It suddenly felt like winter.

Random Penguin visited the market in Groningen.

Here Random Penguin is in front of the bookstore where he left some bookmarks of Between so they could be given to customers.

The last night of his stay everyone stayed up late to chat and tell stories.

We loved having Random Penguin over for a visit and we hope he enjoyed his stay.

Random Penguin Gets Around

The Random Penguin has been busy these last few days.

He helped cooking dinner and learned about 'Snijbonen'.

He went to the movies.

That was actually on my invitation to celebrate my blogoversary. We saw The Hobbit.

Random Penguin saw yet another one of the churches in Groningen: The New Church.

He had a grilled cheese sandwich at lunch today.

And he read the company magazine while we were at work.

Tomorrow we might do even more fun stuff if we find the time.

Party Time!

So why this crappy video of me dancing?

Because I've been blogging for four years today!!!

I know I've been a little less diligent about posting this last year, but I'm still enjoying blogging and telling you about my adventures when I have them.

2013 will bring at least two foreign trips if all goes well and I promise to let my owner work on her skills in making videos of me.

So time to get the Chocolate Minty drink and toast to many more years of travelling and blogging!

A big thank you to all those animals and people who have been following me and commented on my posts. I appreciate you all!

And to show a bit of that appreciation:
I'll send a card pack to one of you (picked at random) who comments on this post before January 18th.

Further Exploits of the Random Penguin

Random Penguin has been busy the last few days.

We played the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game.

Random Penguin saw the Martini Tower.
(The most beautiful tower in all of the Netherlands in my humble opinion.)

He saw the canals.
Random Penguin hoped there would be ice so he could walk on the canals, but that was not to be.

He also visited 'Het Goudkantoor' (the Gold Office).
He didn't get any gold though.

He had fun during our weekly games night.

And he saw the 'Der Aa' Church.
If it looks like the church is ready to fall over you can blame my owner's creative photographer skills.)

What Our Guest Has Been Up To

So what has the Random Penguin been doing since he arrived?

Random Penguin contemplating the Dutch weather. He thinks he might need an umbrella.

Random Penguin went with us to work. He was a bit bored.

Random Penguin settled in for the night.

Random Penguin all set to make a trip into town.

I'll keep you all updated of Random Penguin's further exploits in Groningen.
