Queen's Day

Today it was Queen's Day, the day the Dutch celebrate the birthday of the queen.

There's always a big open market on Queen's Day and as we want to declutter our house a bit as we have to move house temporarily in July for the renovation we decided to try and sell some of our excess stuff, like old books and such.

I kept an eye on everyone who passed to make sure no one ran off without paying.

And there were lots of people walking by so I was pretty busy all day.

But I also had time for a few short breaks and in one of my breaks I looked around a bit.

This Jeep and the truck in the last picture were army vehicles! There were people from the army to give demonstrations and tell people a bit about the army.

I also met this nice lady, who was dressed in a tradional costume and was making wooden clogs!

We did manage to sell lots of our stuff and we then celebrated it by spending our well deserved money by going to our favourite restaurant!

It was a great Queen's Day!!

Really Cool Mail!

Today there was a package for me and my owner from the US.

It was a signed copy of of Mind Games by Carolyn Crane! We won the book at a giveaway over at Wicked Jungle. And Carolyn also included little CJ and Miss Doreen stickers!

And look:

Carolyn put a special message for us in the book and even drew a little picture of me and my owner! How cool is that!

Thanks Carolyn! We're really happy with it!

A Walk to Garnwerd

The beautiful weather continued today so we walked to Garnwerd.

I took another rest among the Lady's Smock.

A view on Garnwerd from across the water.

I counted how far we had walked and it was over 5 kilometers to Garnwerd!

So I had deserved a short nap.

And because of the weather I was very thirsty so I got a big glass of ice tea.

We also got something to eat: bread with cheese, omelette and onions!

Yum!
Just what I needed to sustain me on the long walk back home.

A-Church and Cards

Especially for Beanie and others who haven't seen it yet I start this post with a link to my post of March 18th 2009. It has a link to the news item that features me! It was broadcast on local television. Lots of Dutch talking, but you can see me being hugged by a (famous) Dutch author of books about animals and such. Just go here and click on the link at the start of the post.

Now on to my day.

It's a great day with lots of sun so my owner and me went into town. Here you can see the tower of the A-Church, one of the churches in the center of Groningen.

We had to buy a birthday card for someone and my owner got me a card as well! It's from Geertje van der Zijpp and it has a hippo and a pig in it! And you can't see it very well in this picture, but there's also a mouse (on the back of the dog) and a hamster (on the back of the pig) and ofcourse other fun animals. Now isn't that a cool card!

We also got this card which is very weird, but also very beautiful I think.

Flowers and me!

The Lady's Smock is in bloom again, so I couldn't resist taking a few pictures.

And just look what I got today:

It's a picture of me!
It was drawn especially for me by Lisa Dovichi, who is kind of famous by being Gini Koch's crit partner and being mentioned in the acknowledgments of 'Touched by an Alien'. Hmmmm.... does that make me a little famous too I wonder.

Thanks Lisa, it's an awesome drawing!!

Curry

My owner was in the mood for making a potato curry today so we visited the Amazing Oriental Warehouse. And although I'm pretty sure Barffi doesn't mean what it sounds like, I was glad my owner didn't buy this weirdly named stuff.

When we got home we made the first preparations for the curry and I helped with grinding up the cinnamon. Very hard work I can tell you!

A Book!

When I was helping my owner clean out some drawers I found two gift certificates! So we went into town and I got this book with the certificates.
Now that's a fun surprise!

Art Show!

Yesterday I went to an Art Show and there was lots of really cool art, so today's post is Art Spam!

And in closing a beautiful view on the Martini Toren yet from another angle (this time as seen from the window of the building where the art show was being held).

ps: Don't forget to read my interview with Gini Koch here!

Ice Cream on a Sunny Day

It was a beautiful, sunny day today, but my owner had to work. Instead of staying home to enjoy the beautiful weather I went with her to help, so my owner thought I deserved a reward and I got chocolate ice cream once we were done working!

When we got home there was just enough time to catch the last bit of sun.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Stalked by Cats and a Card!

Today I felt like I was being stalked by cats! First there was one on the shed again this morning...

And when we got home from work there was another one following us! Creepy...

Once safely inside, away from the cats, I saw there was a postcard for me!
It was from Marlowe. Thanks Marlowe!
I love getting mail from my friends!

Dandelion

Even in the middle of all the rubbage caused by the renovation there are some flowers strong enough to stand their ground!
