Candy and Chocolate

I had a very good day at my owner's work today. first one of the team leaders gave me this small roll of candy. It is lemon flavoured Fruit-tella, very tasty.

Later today I discovered this huge bowl filled with chocolate money!

They gave me one of the chocolate coins to take home with me.

Look: it has my collegue Frank on it!

Painting Sinterklaas and a Walk

Today me and my owner painted the Sinterklaas statue that was in the Sinterklaas paint set I got yesterday.

Painting is more difficult then I thought, but it also is fun to do.

And here is the finished Sinterklaas together with the candy that came with the painting set. Although.... why the candy looked like french fries is anyone's guess.

In the late afternoon we went for a walk. As it was cold I snuggled up in my travelbag.

Yeah, I know: picture spam, but don't you just love that beautiful sky!?

Sinterklaas and other stuff

Today I went into town with my owner and I saw Sinterklaas!!
For those not familiar with Sinterklaas: On the 5th of December the dutch celebrate Sinterklaasavond (St. Nicholas Eve). On that day Sinterklaas (the bearded fellow in red) and his helper Zwarte Piet (Black Pete) bring around presents to everyone. He arrived in Groningen last week from Spain to make some last preparations for next week and today he paid a visit to the market in Groningen. My owner told me he will be bringing us presents too next week!

While we were trying to figure out what Sinterklaas was going to do suddenly this weird guy with no shirt on came running around! And after that some other guy started to sing some really terrible songs for Sinterklaas so we didn't stick around.

In one of the shops we visited I got this small cup with a white powdery stuff inside.
What can it be?

It turned out to be dried horsemilk!
We also got a pamphlet to explain why it seems to be good for you.

And look what my owner got me: A Sint and Piet paint set with Sinterklaas candy!

Missed the mail person twice!!

Yesterday there was a notice that the mail delivery person had tried to deliver a package for Coco, but that no one was at home, so they would try to deliver the package today. When my owner and I came home today there was another notice, this time for me, telling that they had been at the door again with the same package and as no one was home again now had taken the package to the post office where we have to go get it ourselves.

Hmmm...... so the package is for me and Coco!! I think I know who send this package and I got the feeling it is someone red

What?! I can only go get the package on workdays after 1 p.m.!? That means I have to wait until after the weekend!!

Two disappointments and a surprise

Yesterday my owner and I went to visit a friend to watch a movie together. We went to a dvd rental place and I found the perfect movie to watch: Trick 'r Treat.
But my choice was over-ruled and my owner and her friend chose some chick flick instead......

Today when we got home there was a package! We all gathered as we hoped it would be something cool.

It turned out to be a phone that isn't even for us, but that my owner has to give to someone else.....

Just when I felt like everything is against me at the moment something fun happened:

There was a small Sinterklaas bag filled with goodies for me, Angus and Domo!

Let's see what's in it....

It had chocolate coins in it and a big bag of Kruidnoten (some kind of gingerbread cookies). Yum!!

Poffertjes!

Yesterday we made poffertjes!
I don't know if there's a word for them in english, but they are some sort of very small pancakes.

first we heated the special poffertjes pans and used some sunflower oil so the poffertjes batter wouldn't stick to the pans.

I got to put the batter into the pans with this handy bottle.

Waiting for the moment when I could turn the poffertjes over.

Looking good already!

When they were finished we put powdered sugar on them and then they were ready to eat. Delicious!

Chocolate + Milk and a Fortune Cookie

I had a very special mug of hot chocolate.
They gave me the chocolate on a stick which I could melt into the hot milk myself!

It was tempting to eat the chocolate, but I resisted temptation and melted it all in the milk, it tasted really good!

I got a fortune cookie too!

I wonder what the future has in store for me.

Well, that does sound exciting! I wonder what it will be.

A trip to Emmen

Today we made a trip to Emmen as we were going to visit someone for her birthday (we were a bit late as the birthday was awhile ago).
While we were in Emmen anyway we decided to also pay a visit to the Zoo that is in Emmen.

When we got to the zoo we noticed a chinese looking gateway at the entrance and wondered why it was there.

In front of the gate was this wooden creature who was tunneling his way into the ground. With cool things like this I couldn't wait to get inside the zoo. We still had about two and a half hour till closing time so enough time to see all the animals I wanted to see.

But then our plans got foiled!!!
It turned out that there was some kind of Chinese lantern festival at the zoo and because of the festival the zoo closed one and a half hour earlier then normal! So that meant we only would have one hour before closing time. We didn't feel like rushing so finally we decided not to go to the zoo today, but try again on a day when we'd have more time to look at all the animals there.

So we planned on making a nice walk instead. We started out on the square close to the zoo where I spotted this beautiful statue.

We made a short trip through Emmen and then we came to the woods at the edge of town. it was a bit muddy because it had been raining, but just look at all the beautiful autumn leaves!

And look what we found in the forest: a Hunebed!

There were lots of leaves on the Hunebed.

And even a small pool in which I could see myself!

When we walked on we also encountered some sort of monument. I think it was for the people who worked on retaining this forest or something like that.

Mushrooms!

No autumn walk is complete without finding mushrooms.

I just love trees!

Back at the house of the birthdaygirl we were treated to a delicious meal and a nice glass of rosé.

This beautiful painting, which was hanging in the house were the birthday was, is a replica of the original painting by Vermeer and was painted by my owner's OH. I had to take a picture of it ofcourse.

In the evening we took a bus back to Groningen.
We might not have been able to visit the zoo, but we had a great day!
